Gmail Storage

Google Accounts include 15GB of free storage to share across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. If your Google Account is through work or school, you have at least 30GB of storage. It’s great!

Check your storage

To see how much storage you’re using:

  1. Go to drive.google.com or www.google.com/settings/storage
  2. In the bottom left of Google Drive, hover over your storage usage to see the detail information, or hover over the chart at Storage Settings to see the details.

Buy a storage plan

If you’re reaching your storage limit, you can buy more storage. Your upgraded plan will be your new total storage limit. For example, if you upgrade to 1TB, your storage limit is 1TB (not 1TB + 15GB of free storage)

Google Mail

Until 2010, Google’s email service was known as “Google Mail” (and not Gmail) in the United Kingdom (U.K). And now it’s called Gmail in Germany too! From now on, anybody who signs up for a new Gmail account will get an @gmail.com address instead of @googlemail.com.

Sign in to Google Mail Account

If you already use Google Mail and would prefer an @gmail.com address, you have the option to change to the matching @gmail.com username. If you make this address swap, it only affects your address; your account settings, contacts, and existing mail won’t change, and any mail sent to your old @googlemail.com address will automatically be redirected to your new address.

If you would like to change your @googlemail.com address to @gmail.com, just click “switch to @gmail.com” in the “Accounts” tab in your Gmail Settings (this link will only show up if you’re eligible to change your address).
