If you found any strange behaviors while using Gmail such as: strange email in your Sent Box that you didn’t send appear, or some messsages have disappeared, or your Gmail settings have changed but you didn’t do it as: signature, forwarding emails, filters, …it’s possile that your account has been compromised.
Google provided a “Last account activity” feature, shows you information about recent activity in your mail to help you find suspicious activity. Recent activity includes any time that your mail was accessed using a regular web browser, a POP client, a mobile device, a third-party application, etc…
Check your account activity
- Sign in to Gmail
- Scroll down at the bottom right, you can see your last account activity. Click “Details” link to see more details.
- In activity information windows, you can see up to 10 latest activities of your account listed in the table with access type, IP address and time.
- If you detect any unusual activity with strange IP address/location, we highly recommend you click “Sign out all other web sessions” button and change your Gmail password as soon as possible.
Note: Gmail will send you an alert if there is any unusual activity with your email account.
